Colour Create Challenge #74

Well, first week of holidays has started and it is passing by in a whirlwind! I have devoted this holiday to spring cleaning my house from top to bottom, so time is just flying. I am also trying to spend more time catching up with my challenge cards so that I am a little ahead when I go back to work in another week. This week's challenge over at Colour Create is to work with the gorgeous colours - fuschia, green and white. Here is the inspiration pic:

30 Jun - Challenge 74 - Sharon T

Green is always a challenge for me and I am having trouble using my New Leaf cardstock as I just can't seem to pair it well with other colours. So I thought I would give it a go with this simple card:

I have used New Leaf for my base and then I started by embossing my white layer with my Elegant Bouquet folder and die cutting an oval from the centre. Using Chamomile tea dye ink, I stamped my Text Style background on some more white cardstock and then added a flourish over the top with Crumb Cake ink. This layer was added to my New Leaf base with a layer of acetate on top. Finally I added my embossed white layer.

The butterflies from the Butterfly Dreams set were stamped in Versamark and Melon Mambo ink and then clear embossed and adhered to the oval with Glossy Accents. I used some green polka dot ribbon along the bottom, threading it through a tag stamped from my Blooming Button Bits set in Crumb Cake ink.

On the inside, I stamped two more flourishes in Crumb Cake ink and my sentiment in Melon Mambo ink.

I have checked out all the other DT creations and they are stunning so make sure you hop on over to the Colour Create blog to have a look. Link up your creation using fuschia, green and white and you will be in the draw to win this fortnight's prize!

CSAYL - Be Inspired

Hello again,
This week's challenge over at the CSAYL blog is to be inspired using this gorgeous photo:

As soon as I saw it I loved the colour combo but knew I didn't have any background paper to match so I set about creating my own! I got the inspiration for this background from the latest issue of Australian Cardmaking, Stamping and Papercraft magazine, where copics can be used to create a check/plaid background. I have also decided to enter this card into the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge #122 using this sketch:

I used Tempting Turquoise cardstock for my base and layered a colour I never use - retired Gable Green and then added my background layer on top. I created the background by ruling up my lines lightly with pencil first and then using my copics to draw in the thin and thick lines. This was so much fun and I LOVE the result and will be doing this much more in the future.

I stamped the Joy image from Taylored Expression's Wings Of Joy set in Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it in with my copic markers, adding some Glossy Accents to the berries. I then cut and embossed this with my circle nesties. While still in the die, I sponged some blue pigment ink around the edges.  I then adhered some Hawaiian Shores ribbon and mounted my main image on top. The front was finished off with some AnnaBelle Stamps sprinkles.

On the inside I stamped the bird image from Wings of Joy in Tuxedo Black ink and coloured it in with copics. I then added the Merry Christmas sentiment in Old Olive ink.

The CSAYL girls have come up with some wonderful creations, so be sure to have a look over at the CSAYL blog.

I am now officially on two week's holidays so hopefully, fingers crossed, I will be able to have some more regular posts on my blog and stop chasing my tail!

Have a great weekend!

AnnaBelle Stamps Sketch Challenge ABSC039

absc039
Welcome back to another monthly sketch challenge from AnnaBelle Stamps. Before I talk about my card, I have to apologise if the colours and quality are not very good. My trusty laptop's battery decided to give up this week so I am waiting for a replacement and in the meantime I am using my ancient desktop computer which has really bad lighting. So when I edit my photos to make them clearer for this old computer, it probably is making them look worse really! It makes me realise how attached I have become to my laptop and how much I miss it. So please bear with me for the next week or so with my posts!

Anyway onto the challenge cards and I decided to use Mother's Day Bouquet for these two gift sized cards as the vase and flowers can be adapted to any occasion.

I used some Cristina Re designer paper for both the top and bottom of the card, adhering some white ribbon to cover the join. My vase was stamped in Certainly Celery ink and then the flowers added in Tuxedo Black in and coloured with my Copics. A tiny strip of the DP was added above my sentiment from the All Things Grow set which was stamped in Melon Mambo ink. I added some white adhesive pearls for my bling.

On the inside I continued the theme with the same DP and added a sentiment from Mother's Day Bouquet in Melon Mambo ink.

The next card uses another vase from the Mother's Day Bouquet set, stamped in Pretty In Pink ink with the same flowers. Again I added a tiny strip of DP above the sentiment which was stamped in Old Olive ink. I used some more DP from the same Cristina Re paper pack for my background.

On the inside I stamped my sentiment in Old Olive ink.

Here is my card:

I chose to use the pram image which I coloured with my Copics and paper pieced the pram with some Cosmo Cricket DeLovely DP. This was then matted on some grey cardstock. For the base I used some white cardstock which I edged on the front with my Apron Lace punch. I then used some more of the DeLovely paper and tied around some olive ribbon to cover the seam. The main image was then laid on top and some pink rhinestones added on either side. I stamped the sentiment from Baby Joy in Melon Mambo ink on a tag die cut and tied this to the bow with some white twine. Finally I added a pink flower stamped with Backgrounds By Design 1 to the bow centre with a glue dot.

On the inside I combined a few Baby Joy sentiments and stamped them in Old Olive ink, matting this layer on some grey cardstock. Some more Old Olive and Melon Mambo flowers were added to this strip. Along the bottom I adhered some DeLovely paper that had been edged with my Apron Lace border punch.
I am entering this card in the Inkspirations Challenge #74 for this week:

CSAYL - Black, White and ???

Hi,
Well winter is well and truly here - I am typing up this post absolutely shivering and it feels like  perfect weather to keep building up my Christmas card stash. Thanks to the Christmas Stampin' All Year Long blog, I have now made a very healthy supply which will be ready to go at Christmas. This week's challenge is 'Black, White and ??? - create a holiday project using black, white and only one other colour of your choice. It is sponsored by A Perfect Presentation
View Perfect P...bmp in slide show
and the winner will receive 1 free template of their choice. I decided to use the 'My Little Bag' template.

My extra colour of choice was red and I stamped my Christmas tree image in red ink and clear embossed it. The To/From sentiments were stamped in Smokey Shadow ink. Once I had completed my stamping, I die cut the image using a circle nestability and then mounted this on to red cardstock die cut with my Blossoms 4 die.

I punched two holes in the top of my bag with my Cropadile and then set two eyelets and threaded through some red satin ribbon. The designer paper that I have mounted on to my white base is from Kaisercraft ( I think it is the After Five collection). I have to admit that there is a little addtion of grey on my project, but I just felt that I needed to use the reverse of the black and white paper to break the pattern up a little.

Hop over to the CSAYL blog to check out the other team creations and make sure you add your project for a chance to win the fabulous prize from A Perfect Presentation!!

Stamps: A Rhonna Christmas (Autumn Leaves)

Say It In Yellow, Orange and Turquoise

say_it_in_yellow_orange_turq

This week's challenge at AnnaBelle Stamps is to say it in Yellow, Orange and Turquoise. I decided to use my most trusted AnnaBelle stamp set - Ballerina Rose. I decided to take some inspiration from a couple of cards in the latest US CARDS magazine which I subscribe to and try hand sewing.

I stamped the Ballerina Rose image on to some Thrift Shop DP from October Afternoon and then hand cut them out. I then individuallly hand sewed them onto some cream card that had been embossed with my Fleur De Lis Impressabilities plate. Following this, I used my paper piercer to pierce some flourishes and then hand sewed them with some kraft coloured thread. Finally I stamped my sentiment from Jasmine's Cupcake in Pumpkin Pie ink and adhered this layer to a Kraft base.

On the inside I again embossed my cream layer with my Fleur De Lis Impressability again, stamped the sentiment from Acacia in Pumpkin Pie ink and adhered two more flowers from Ballerina Rose along the bottom. I matted this on some yellow Thrift Shop paper before adhering to the inside.

Colour Create Challenge #73

It's Challenge 73 over at the Colour Create blog and the inspiration picture for this challenge is:

16 Jun - Challenge 73 - Mina - Blue, grey and white

which is to use blue, white and grey with an optional extra - vellum. The sponsor for this fortnight is Michelle's Scrapbooking and the winner will receive a voucher to spend in the store:
I decided to add to my Christmas card stash with a cute digi image -  Merry Mice from Di's Digi Downloads.

I started with a grey base and added a layer of white, adhering some blue snowflake paper to the bottom half and used some light blue ribbon to cover the join. I coloured my digi image with Copics and added some glitter to the snow and snowflakes. I then sponged around the edges with some light blue pigment ink and matted this layer onto some grey cardstock. I stamped my sentiment from Holiday Button Bits in Smokey Shadow Ink and also matted this onto some grey cardstock, tucking it behind my image. Finally I punched a large snowflake and heat set it with glitter. I then punched a second snowflake from vellum and overlapped this on top, finishing off with a light blue button tied with some blue glitter crochet yarn.

On the inside, I used some more of the designer paper along the bottom and stamped my sentiment in Smokey Shadow ink.

Make sure you check out all the other DT creations over at the Colour Create blog and link your card - you have a fortnight before this week's challenge closes!

CSAYL - Babes In Toyland

Over at the CSAYL blog the challenge is 'Babes In Toyland' - make a Christmas card for a child. I STRUGGLED with this for some reason and it was only at the last minute that I thought of the little gingerbread man from PTI's Holiday Button Bits.

I stamped my background from A Little Argyle in kraft ink and added a small snowflake from TE's Wings of Joy set stamped in Baja Breeze ink. This layer was then matted on some Aqua Mist cardstock. I stamped my gingerbread man in Kraft ink, edged him with my clear Atyou Spica glitter pen and then sewed on two white buttons with some Kraft thread. I popped him up on dimensionals and then added the Merry Christmas sentiment, adhering the banner underneath my image.

I used my Banner Day die from MFT, cutting the larger banner  with Pure Poppy cardstock and the small banner with some retired Baja Breeze DP. I edged the sides of my red cardstock with my red Atyou Spica glitter pen. I then added the letters to spell Harry using some American Craft thickers.

The inside was also stamped with my dotted Argyle background stamp in kraft ink with a few more random snowflakes. I combined two sentiments from Holiday Button Bits to finish it off.

Have a go at creating a child's christmas card and link it up to the CSAYL blog for your chance to be a Guest Designer in July!

Say It With Masking and Sponging!

with_masking_sponging

This was quite a challenge this week!! Over at the AnnaBelle Stamps blog, the weekly challenge is to say it with masking and sponging. For this card I decided to use the Daisy Delight set:

I used Kraft for my main layer and masked the medium sized daisy three times and then added a small daisy to finsih off. I stamped them in Real Red ink and clear embossed each daisy. Then I used my R22,R24,R27 copics to colour the flowers and dotted the centres with my white gel pen. I sponged the edges of the flowers with Whisper White Craft ink and gradually softened the edges.  I used a sentiment from Acacia stamped in Tuxedo Black ink and added some chilli sprinkles underneath. This layer was then added to some red cardstock which had been edged with my Upper Crest border punch along the bottom. once adhered, I added some red gingham ribbon along the bottom. All the layers were then added to a Kraft base.

On the inside I stamped another sentiment from Acacia, adding a small daisy mounted on top of some leaves also from the Daisy Delight set.

Finally I added some lemon spotted ribbon with my sentiment from Acacia stamped in Old Olive ink.

On the inside I stamped my sentiment also from Acacia in Old Olive ink and added a strip of Kraft and lemon cardstock along the bottom. This was all matted on to some more lemon cardstock.
